Russia classifies Ukraine's actions as genocide

Russia's Investigative Committee has formally classified the actions of Ukrainian armed formations in the Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics as genocide. The committee alleges that since 2014, these actions have resulted in the deaths of nearly 5,000 civilians and injuries to more than 13,000 others. Based on this classification, Russian authorities have brought criminal charges against 41 representatives of Ukraine's top political and military leadership. The move represents a significant escalation in Russia's legal and rhetorical campaign against Ukraine.
