Ex-intel chief detention extended in Easter bombings case

A Sri Lankan court has ordered further detention of former intelligence chief Suresh Sallay as investigators intensify efforts to uncover the mastermind behind the 2019 Easter Sunday terror attacks. The coordinated suicide bombings on April 21, 2019 targeted churches and luxury hotels, killing nearly 270 people including 11 Indians and injuring over 500. The attack was carried out by a local extremist group linked to Islamic State.
